David Beckham is more than one of England’s professional footballer. He is a celebrity, treated as near-royalty, hounded by the press who dwell on his every move. During his career as a member of the Manchester United, and also playing for the England in the World Cup, Beckham has been both villain and hero. Lauded, vilified, bemoaned, worshiped, and ridiculed–few professional players of any sport have undergone the constant barrage of attention on and off the field as Beckham. Handsome, with a quick eye to where the cameras are placed, he has both benefited and suffered from a life lived in the public arena.
Beckham was runner-up in the Ballon d’Or, Twice runner-up for FIFA World Player of the Year and in 2004 he was named by Pelé in the FIFA 100 list of the world’s greatest living players.
Here are some interesting and inspirational quotes by him:-
1.ON MONEY
My career has never been about the money. Wherever I’ve gone I played the sport as I love it. It was never about the money – and it never will be.
2.ON RELIGION
I respect all religions, but I’m not a deeply religious person. But I try and live life in the right way, respecting other people. I wasn’t brought up in a religious way, but I believe there’s something out there that looks after you.
3.ON PARENTS
My parents have been there for me, ever since I was about 7.
4.ON HIS MANAGER
Alex Ferguson is the best manager I’ve ever had at this level. Well, he’s the only manager I’ve actually had at this level. But he’s the best manager I’ve ever had.
5.ON CRITICISM
People react to criticism in different ways, and my way is definitely to come out fighting.
6.ON HOBBY
I don’t have time for hobbies. At the end of the day, I treat my job as a hobby. It’s something I love doing.
7.ON VICTORIA
I always used to go for blondes and quiet girls, but Victoria is the total opposite – dark and loud.
8.ON HIS LOVE
We’ve been asked to do “Playboy” together, me and Victoria, as a pair. I don’t think I’ll ever go naked, but I’ll never say never.
9.ON PAST
That was in the past – we’re in the future now.
10.ON REGRET
I don’t regret the decision to retire. My body was losing its edge. I was taking longer to recover from injuries. You have to get out at some point.
